Hi OfficialGMAT,

there will be an ebook version of these guides to purchase on wiley store or ebooks.com?

regards

There will not be an ebook version of these guides, but the guide and supplements include access to an exclusive online portal. The online portal provides access to the questions in practice mode and exam mode. In practice mode, you can view the answer & explanations for each question right away, while in exam mode you don’t see these until the end of the test. You can customize these by type of question and level of difficulty. Please note: the online exam mode is not a timed & computer-adaptive representation of the actual GMAT exam.

If you have any further questions, please let me know.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Thank you Jeremy.

No, I do not have further questions. I asked only because would be comfortable having the guides on the go.

Thank you so much.

Regards

I am really disappointed that the prep materials are not available in e-format, but it is what it is.

Hi,

I gave GMAT test in Dec 2013. I plan to give another attempt now. I have OG 12 and OG 13. My question is do I need to purchase OG 16 now? Would appreciate your valuable take on this.

Hi JBGMAT,

There are a variety of different resources that you can purchase during your studies, so it's not clear what you mean when you ask if you "need to purchase" this book.

The 2016 Official Guide has replaced about 25% of the question from the OG13 with new questions and includes some online tools that you can use. The cost to purchase the new book is marginal (especially when compared to the cost of many of the other resources that you might purchase).

1) How did you score on your original GMAT?
2) What is your goal score now?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

Thanks for your prompt reply. I already have OG 12 and 13 and also have Manhattan set of 8 guides (but 4th edition). Will buy access to online practice tests too soon.

Answers to your questions are:

1) How did you score on your original GMAT?

I gave test in Dec 2013 with whatever preparations I could do at that time, and scored 540 (V 23, Q 41) in that. RC was my weakest area. I was good in SC and fine in CR in verbal. But I have practiced since then and I am improving in these areas.

2) What is your goal score now?

My clarity on topics is improving and is better now. Is it possible for me to touch 700 score?

3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

I plan to give the test in next 2-3 months, so plan to apply to a few schools for the coming session, if scores are good enough. Else next session.
I have a relevant work experience of 9 + years. I am business research analyst (doing secondary research mainly).

Considering all these factors, what would be your suggestion to me. What I could get from your reply was, I should buy OG 16 first. Anything else would you like to add?

Would wait for your reply.

Hi JBGMAT,

I DO recommend that Test Takers purchase at least one of the main OG books; since you already have the OG13, you can decide whether you want to purchase the GMAT2016 or not.

As far as how you might go about studying with the goal of scoring 700+, we really need more information on your CURRENT skills. Since it sounds like you have not taken any CATs yet, I'd like to know a bit more about how you've been studying recently:

1) Have you started studying yet?
2) If you have started, what work have you done so far?

Sometime soon, it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH CAT (including the Essay and IR sections). Once you have that score result, you should report back here and we can talk through your study plans.

Hello,

Something to keep in mind while you're making this decision is that the online component for the 2012 and 2013 versions of the guide is valid for six months after activation, so you would likely not have access to these now. For your reference, we've extended this active period to 12 months in the new 2016 version.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I just got the OG2016 and did a set of 50 math questions (PS+DS) in practice mode (mixed difficulty level). There's a total of 404 questions. When I do my next practice set of 50, is there a way to ensure I'm not seeing any questions I've already solved?

Hello,

Could you please clarify? Are you referring to the GMATPrep Question Pack 1, which contains 404 questions? If you are referring to the Official Guide for GMAT Review 2016, then you will need to contact Wiley directly for further assistance. For technical support with accessing the online component, contact Wiley for further assistance at https://wiley.custhelp.com or call Wiley at: +1-800-762-2974 (U.S.), +1-317-572-3994 (international).

Thank you,

Ok, I will clarify. Yes, I am referring to the OG 2016. The issue i'm having is when i'm doing questions online. There is a total of 140 questions for SC. I tried to create a question set of 20 questions, but something happened and it gave me a set of all 140. After doing 20 questions, i clicked on "end test." Then the next day, i tried to do a set of 30, and this the question set came up correctly with 30 questions, but most of the questions were repeating. It seems as though the computer is thinking that i did all the questions already, so its just repeating them all. I want to know if there is a way to delete that entire set of questions that i accidentally created of 140 questions. i've created math and RC and CR sets before and the sets that I've correctly set up (i.e. 40 questions) don't repeat same questions.

I think the issue is occurring with SC specifically because there is a set out there with all 140 questions. Is it possible from someone from IT go into my account and just reset the set?
Just to be clear, for every other topic, when i've created a question set, those questions dont repeat, so i think its only happening with SC because a set was accidentally created using the entire universe of sentence correction questions.

I reached out to Wiley about it and they said its impossible to reset a set. The Wiley rep said "There is a question bank that the questions are pulled from. After a session is complete, the only information that is stored is the score you received. It does not do anything but randomly select questions from the question bank. When you take practice assessments that use smaller numbers of questions, it's possible that some questions may overlap between assessments because the system does not store or remember in any way what questions you have already answered."

However, I don't think the rep is correct, because i've never seen a repeat of any other topic, and i've done over 40% of questions. The Wiley rep told me "That's just pure luck unfortunately. There is no intelligent selection of questions based on what you have answered. If you go a back and redo multiple assessments in each category, you may see repeats because there are only so many to pull from"

Could someone give a second look/opinion on this...

Thank you for your message. The 404 questions located in the GMATPrep Question Pack 1 cannot be reset. In order to reset the questions in the GMATPrep Question Pack 1, you must uninstall the free GMATPrep application. Click [YES] when asked if you want to remove all data (exam scores, practice question sessions etc.). Please note: This process will remove all data from the free software, including the two full-length practice exams.

To get to unanswered questions:

1. Click Practice answering questions
2. Click More Options, under the Quick Start section
3. Click drop-down
4. Click Not answered to begin answering (unanswered) questions.

See attached screenshots for more detail. I hope this helps.

Thank you,
Jeremy

Jeremy,

There is another way to reset all data in GMATPREP withouht having to uninstall.

For windows PCs, you need to follow the followinig steps:

1> Go to C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Roaming\GMATPrep\Local Store

2> Exit the GMATPrep Application

3> Rename the "GMATPrep" folder to "GMATPrep_OLD".

4> Restart your GMATPREP software.

I think GMAC should look into a better and more direct way to reset the question pool and ability to create mini mocks out of question pack 1 under timed conditions

Jeremy,

You had mentioned in one of your earlier posts about the next editions of Exam Pack and Question pack (versions 2.0 perhaps) will be released soon. I wanted to know if we have a tentative date or period by when we should expect this new set of questions?

Thanks

Hello,

I recently checked in with our team about these. These are indeed still in development, but we do not yet have an official release date. Once I have that in hand, I will be sure to share here.

Thanks,
Jeremy
