Hi anushree01 I understand where are you coming from. Well in this argument the main conclusion is not directly stated. The author is presented a contradiction after the BF1 which is the premise for historians conclusion and both the statement after however are kind of premise for Author view point and BF2 is acting as a justification. The implied main conclusion is that reconstructed buildings lack a crucial element of value that originals possess, and thus are not equally worthy of admiration. That's why you your conclusion identification failed in this argument.

PS whenever these type of argument appears where the main conclusion is not mentioned, 1st step is understanding how the argument is structured even before labeling what is main conclusion what is premise what is counter premise etc. In that way you will not form any biasness for specific statement that the last sentence might be a main conclusion. After understanding the argument then assign Role and direction of Boldface statement based on this evaluate option choices.

Hope this helps

I fell for C, as I thought that the second boldface was author`s conclusion.
Among the below sentences how can I choose better which one is the conclusion ?
I tried the why test but still :(

However, part of what makes historic buildings valuable is that they are authentic physical links to earlier generations. That sense of authenticity is diminished when a building is known to be a reconstruction.
