I would really appreciate if someone could guide me regarding my strategy to study. I have been preparing for GMAT for almost couple of months now and like most of the students I am facing problem with my verbal. Although I started from level 0, I have improved to some extent. I gave the Kaplan CAT last week scoring Q49, V25(I have hardly spent 8-10 hrs on quant till now, so happy with my quant score), I gave a GC Verbal CAT and scored V30.
SC:
I read
MGMAT SC, concentrating primarily on first 10 chapters, which include the core concepts of SC. Then I started solving questions on GC along with OG 15. In order to rectify my mistakes, very fundamental grammar related, I then read section 1 of Ultimate Grammar Book by GC. Continuing my habit of solving questions on GC, I improved my SC. I usually get 80-90% of easy and medium questions correct. The only ones I get wrong are either because of being careless or because of some new concept. But my main problem is with those hard questions, having only 40-50%, maybe even less, accuracy. Sometimes I go blank regarding certain questions.
My strategy to cope up with this problem is to continue practicing more and more problems and rectify the errors I make. I think I should read
MGMAT SC once again.
CR
Again, I used
MGMAT CR for my CR preparation. CR is one section in which I feel to have more confidence. When I am focused while doing CR questions, I hit about 90% accuracy on easy questions, and about 50-80% accuracy with medium and difficult question. Problem with CR is that the questions which I get wrong I happen to have a completely different perspective, and only understand the right one when I read the answer. Also under anxiety, or when I am unable to concentrate, my accuracy goes down to less than 20-30 percent.
My strategy with CR is to only keep practicing. I have no clue regarding my mistakes and ways to improve them.
RC
I have just begun with my RC preparations, finished the
MGMAT RC and started solving some questions. My accuracy is just about 20%. I just hope that I improve it with time.
Main problem being I am unable to recollect all of the content. I dont prefer taking notes as it is time consuming and breaks a continuity while reading.
Meanwhile I have started reading THE ECONOMIST.
PS: I am not sure whether my problems were clear, but I guess you would get a better clue from the level of my English used above
