I was watching
magoosh's free videos, in which Mike tells that if we leave some questions on verb section due to time constraints, the penalty on those questions will not be more than if we answer those questions wrong. Is it right? Because i have been preparing for a while now and I think the penalty on questions left is more than that on the questions answered wrong.
Please Help.
Posted from my mobile deviceThis is one of those questions that should have a pretty simple answer but doesn’t. Traditionally, leaving a question and answer it has resulted into a 3 percentile penalty for the score. Not three points but three percentiles. This is the simple and short answer. It is usually recommended not to leave questions unanswered.
At the same time, the calculation for the penalty is more complex in reality. In some cases it results into a greater penalty and in some cases it results in to a smaller penalty than making a mistake. See more on this here:
https://gmatclub.com/forum/impact-of-no ... l#p2335063Bottom line is that usually you should answer all questions even if you are blindly guessing and more importantly than that, try NOT to get into a situation where you are guessing multiple questions. That indicates a failure to time your test properly.... and is a much bigger value in figuring out how to handle that, than how to guess/not guess.
