Hi,
can some one explain as I couldnt understand the solution for the incorrect drill question provided below
Drill Question:Most professional basketball players believe they are worth the exorbitant
sums that they are paid and that the revenue they create for the teams and the
league justifies the amount.
Solution:
Again, “slash and burn” to see the construction error: The players
believe this is true....but that this is true. The “that” before “the revenue” is
incorrect. This sentence should be written as: Most professional basketballplayers believe that they are worth the exorbitant sums that they are paid andthat the revenue they create for the league justifies the amount.

Drill Question:
Most professional basketball players believe they are worth the exorbitant sums
they can't get paid and again then create the revenue.
There are no two events here separated by and.
Also that before they are paid correctly refers to sums but "that” before “the revenue” is incorrect.
In the given question it means that
1. players believe they are worth the exorbitant sums that they are paid and
2. players believe they are worth the exorbitant sums that the revenue they create for X..........so on
can you observe that second that is quite awkward
This sentence should be written as:
Most professional basketball players believe
This sentence correctly implies the intended meaning as it says that players believe two things
1. they are worth the money they are paid
2. revenue they create for league justifies the amount
This sentence mainly tests parallelism. :-D
