Re: Very low quant score, very high verbal score.. WHY?! [#permalink]
[quote="bentonius"]So I just took my first GMAT 4 days ago after studying for 3 months and got a 640 (26 percentile quant, 96 percentile verbal, and 5 out of 8 on IR).

I am very frustrated that I scored so low on quant after so much study (I spent about 1 total hour studying verbal). I should mention that I am 36 and have not taken a math class in 20 years (and even back then it was a struggle).

I am trying to figure out what exactly I was doing wrong. I don't think I am dumb, but I have no idea how my score could be this bad with this much studying.. HELP!!![/quote

640 is a great score and I am certain that you will get a 700+ score if you invest in an online course. An online course will give you an organized schedule and help build a strong foundation.

I would recommend to go for TTP or Empowergmat.

Best wishes!

Hi bentonius,

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs/mocks (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?
