Hi all, slightly over a month has passed since my last GMAT attempt and I have finally gotten over that massive disappointment to write this post.
Official GMAT Scores1st attempt (30 Sep 2013) - 530 (Q36 V27)
2nd attempt (2 May 2014) - 560 (Q41 V26)
Practice Test ScoresGMAT Prep 1: 660
GMAT Prep 2: 640
GMAT Prep 4: 640
MGMAT CAT 1: 610
MGMAG CAT 2: 590
Since my 1st attempt, I have been regularly attending sessions (group and individual) with a GMAT prep centre. With the above practice test scores, I was feeling confident that I could get above 600 in the actual GMAT. All tests were taken under test taking conditions, AWA-IR-Q-V with the timed breaks. Primary guides used: OG and Manhattan in addition to the prep centre's notes.
Test day was a horrid experience for me. The GMAT was scheduled at 9am in the morning and I had serious difficulties sleeping the night before. I managed to squeeze in an hour or two of sleep nonetheless but I knew I was in for a tough ride. Still, I tried my best to concentrate on doing well. One thing worth noting was that I did not use the ear plugs provided and that might have disturbed my concentration a fair bit. Obviously, with the combination of factors, I didn't do too well and I am left disappointed with myself for the second time.
I am not sure what are my options now. In order to get into the business school I want, I would definitely need a GMAT score of 640 and above to be competitive. Should I go back to the prep centre to work on what went wrong (lack of rest and concentration, test taking strategies, weak foundation ... etc) or should i opt for another prep centre whose teaching style would better suit me? Would greatly appreciate some advice here.
