My experience has been that timing is just a symptom. There's a reason you're not working at the speed you would like. Do you have a strategy that you're using for each question type? Do you have confidence in the way you're tackling the questions? Are you losing concentration towards the end of the test, is it a stamina issue? Does this relate to reading comprehension eating up all your time? I could suggest some ideas based on more information.

Thanks for your input so far!

I feel fairly confident in my math and verbal fundamentals (I began studying by reviewing the manhattan fundamental guides and completely refreshing on math and writing basics)... I think it just takes me a little longer than it should to recall the number property a specific problem is alluding to, especially on the DS problems. This is why I feel like just taking as many more practice tests as I can will help my ability to more quickly identify what information a DS problem is actually giving me or the subtle clues that will help me find the answer quicker.

For the verbal section, the more I think back on my testing experience, the more I think that my issue comes down to focus (because, in the back of my mind, i'm still thinking about how well I just did on the quant section)... I'm not really sure how to overcome this, but I'm hoping my last quant score will give me enough confidence to forget about that section once i complete it on my next test.

Like most, i'm shooting for a 700+, so hopefully i can reproduce my quant score and bump up my verbal to the high 30's...

I agree with EMPOWERGMATRichC and MBAPrepCoach that your pacing issue is merely a symptom of other issues. To fix the other issues, you should practice drills rather than take more practice tests. What you need is not quantity, but focus.

Hi,

Your score is already 49, but you blind guess the last 5 questions.
If you get 3 of them right, you can hit 50 or above.
We call these hard questions CMT questions (Common Mistake Type).
In fact, these hard 4-5 CMT questions are given on actual GMAT. If you get 1-2 questions wrong, you can definitely hit 49. Or, if you get 0-1 questions wrong, you can hit 50-51. So, you should get 3-4 right out of hardest 4-5 questions. These questions usually take 4-5 minutes to solve per question.

As you already mentioned, time management is very important. You have to solve 37 questions in 75 minutes, but questions get more difficult as you carry on with questions. Since your only issue is timing, we can totally help you with that.
From our course, you will learn Variable approach for DS and IVY approach for PS. With our unique approaches of, you can significantly save time, and will have 10 minutes to spare on exam. For instance, with our approaches, you can solve questions that normally take 4 minutes in 1 minutes and 30 seconds, and 2-minute question in 30 seconds. You can solve DS questions 100% with Variable approach and 30-40% of PS questions with IVY approach. We also would like to recommend studying and mastering DS first as DS is a quick win.

You can go to our website and check if you like our method and try Trial Pack (4 hour lesson) that reveal our secret approaches of DS+PS core theory that you have never seen. www.mathrevolution.com

Additionally, below are two useful articles featured in GMAT Club for your reference. This will be helpful for you. You can see what sort of questions you might encounter on actual GMAT.

Hi mj800,

When it comes to timing aspects of the test and stress management - make sure you think extreme positivity and pay attention to this critical element of the test.

We highly recommend that you read through the timing tips that we put together for you on this blog post: https://www.gmatpill.com/about/studying- ... trategies/

Also, in case you haven't seen, the GMAT Timer is just one of many features we already have in the Practice Pill Platform: https://www.gmatpill.com/gmat-practice-test/
