How much GPA affects in admission.

Question

The university from where I did my graduation , scoring marks was quite difficult and while converting my marks in GPA, I stand below 3 GPA. Though my marks are decent according to my country and university, how badly can that affect me during admission if I have scored 730 in my GMAT, 27 months WE?

If you were in a competitive program, that will be taken into account by the schools you're applying to. Also, congrats on the 730!

A 730 score is an excellent score! I suppose adcoms like to look at the program and university you graduated from. I cannot say this for sure, but adcoms at top bschools must keep a database of all applicants so they can compare scores and GPAs with future applicants. Keep in mind that they look at the whole package and usually the GMAT is the best indicator whether someone will be successful at business school.

First off, a 730 is an outstanding score (it's above the 90th percentile overall), so you should apply to any Business Schools that interest you. GPA is one 'piece' of the application (and it's one that you really can't change much at this point), so if your GPA is going to be a 'weak spot', then you have to find a way to counter it (with fantastic Work Experience, well-written essays, etc.). You might also consider taking (and scoring at a high level in) a college Calculus or Statistics class. In that way, you can show Admissions Committees that you can now handle 'academic' work at a high level. You're ultimately asking Admissions questions, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of them here:
