I have been studying for the GMAT since November and my practice scores are still within the 550-590 score range. I took some time off in May because I was getting depressed, but my test is now 2 weeks away and I'm not getting any better. All I want is a 650 and then I will finally feel like I'm getting somewhere, but I can't seem to get there. I stuck with a GMAT prep company for 3 months, met with a tutor, tried online material and now I'm back with the same Test Prep company giving it another go. I work 40 hours a week and put in about 2 hours a day for study but I think there's just something wrong with my brain. I spend the most time on Quant and I still feel like I'm failing.
Does anyone have any advice or experienced this themselves? Because after this test date things will pick up at work and I wont have enough time to study until November, which is not good because I'm trying to go to Business school next year.

Yes, preparing for gmat vis-a-vis a 40 hours per week work job is quite demanding, and I have been in the same boat as you have been. It's quite frustrating to manage time to master the gmat concepts as well as take out time to practice the concepts as we can't even finish a concept in a week's period studying 2 hours a day. But I have managed to gain a pace and hope these tips will come handy to you too.
1. Exercise regularly. I would recommend brisk walking in the evening after you are home after the exhausting day's work. It helps to settle down your thoughts and calm your nerves so that you are better prepared to study.
2. Meditate! I use headspace. It's just a 15 minutes per day, and those little 15 minutes can have a tremendous impact to calm your nerve throughout your day. Currently I am in Creativity series there. And meditation, helps to lower your frustrations while studying gmat. We become frustrated because we are going slow. If we were studying full time, we would have completed this gmat thing in a month with a decent score. Just believe in yourself!
3. Make the most use of gmatclub tags. Read a concept from a book first, then watch the same concept from the online resource you have subscribed to, practice the concept from the gmat club. While practicing: first go for 500 level questions, then 600 then finally to 700! when you reach the 700 tags you can be assured you have mastered the concept.
4. During office, stand up from you chair very often, and don't forget to drink a lot of water!

The 40 hour work week is tough however there are ways you can improve.
I'd suggest you keep an error log and write down why you got some questions wrong. Take a CAT every weekend and revise the wrong answers. In my opinion it is better to dwell on why you got 20 questions wrong than to answer 200 questions and never correct your mistakes.
Also, work on your biggest weakness first. If that's RC then invest more time tackling RC. Maybe you have timing issues. Maybe its with DS.
