Hey guys,
I just joined this forum which as I understand is a must for those pursuing MBA opportunities.
I am currently working full time in IB in the emerging market but considering switch of location in a couple of years and hence aiming for MBA in Europe (say LBS / Insead) or the US.
I am planning to start my GMAT preparation in January and would very much appreciate any comments your may have for my particular case.
Please see below some inputs:
> I actually tried to start my GMAT preparation in May using Manhattan but due to some personal issues I ceased preparation somewhere around Guide 4 (Geometry) and given the gap in the preparation I would say that I need to start from scratch now
> Before starting my GMAT preparation in May and being absolutely unfamiliar with either exam format or contents I tried Manhattan CAT 1 and got 590 (Q34 V36). I do not know how good this baseline score is, but definitely my quant is fundamentally weak, if not to say abysmal
> I am working a full time investment banking job, hence preparation discipline [at least on weekdays] could be an issue given the job hours etc.
> I am targeting at smth around 710 - of course the more the better [especially for the US schools] but that would be the first target I would say.
I am not sure I liked Manhattan a lot and hence currently considering to enroll in some full blown online course so that my studies were more interactive and more structured. Hence I am currently thinking to proceed with e-GMAT Online as the "base" course and Official Guide as the "bible" of practice questions.
However, I know that there are tons of other resources like (i) GmatPrep (ii)
Magoosh (iii) Veritas (iv) Gmat Pill (v) Kaplan (vi) Math Revolution etc. The universe of prep materials is so big that I am struggling to make the choice.
I understand that it is extremely important to develop efficient study plan with an optimal package of studying materials, hence I would very much appreciate if you could review my thoughts based on the inputs above [in particular, weak quant diagnostic performance] and let me know your comments, especially on the various prep providers.
Many thanks in advance!
