Gmat to GRE

Question

I'm preparing for GMAT since february. My last attempt in GMAT official practice was 750, and in the last weeks i alwais got more than 720. In particular, i always take 50/51 quant, while verbal ranges from 35 to 40. I must take the test before mid of may, and i can study 6/8h per day. This morning i did one of the GRE free test they offer and i got 170 quant and 157 verbal. I need 170-160 or 168-162 at least to get a scholarship. Can i reach it in this span of time? Thanks

Improving GRE verbal score from 157 to 160 in a month with 6-8 hours a day is totally doable. You need to figure out the weak areas in GRE and attach them.

Because GRE test requires more advanced words, you may want to spend some time expanding your GRE vocabulary. Magoosh GRE flashcards and Manhattan Prep's 500 essential / advanced words should be more than enough.

Go for GRE if you are a native speaker and have excellent command over vocabulary. I'd rather suggest that you stick to GMAT as you are already scoring well.

If you could cover Barrons' 333 high-frequency words with synonyms plus magoosh 1000 words with sentence example in a week and then complete official book plus gre big book's all the RC in your time span, you would attain the score mentioned above.

First off, Q170 is awesome, so nice work! I think if you study smart and work your butt off, you can improve by 3 verbal points in a month. That said, do you want some general advice on how to improve your GRE verbal skills? You also may find it helpful to read the following article:

Many Schools do accept either the GMAT or GRE as part of the application process, but you should take the time to confirm that all of the Schools that YOU are interested in actually accept the GRE. Assuming that they all do, you should take advantage and submit whichever Score presents you in the best light. The GRE does place a much greater emphasis on a Test Taker's vocabulary knowledge (including when to use certain words instead of others), so you should review your recent practice GRE to better define WHY you got questions wrong in the Verbal section. For example, how many incorrect answers came down to the fact that you didn't have the needed vocabulary knowledge and how many were because of some other reason? Depending on how quickly you can hone the necessary GRE Verbal skills, you could potentially take the GRE relatively soon (potentially in just a couple of weeks) and hit that Score Goal.
