Hi,

So I've recently started studying for the GMAT and am aiming for a score of at least 650. I consistently answer 600 level sentence correction and critical reasoning questions correctly, but usually answer around 50% of 700 level questions correctly. If I were taking a real GMAT what score should I expect for verbal?
if you are getting 50 % 700 level question correct your verbal score will be between v30 to v38

Hi markchoate81,

Many Test Takers become too fixated on the 'implied level' of the questions that they're working on - instead of what really matters: defining WHY they're getting questions wrong and becoming more efficient at approaching the overall Exam. It's also worth noting that just because a 3rd party describes a question as "700 level" does not necessarily make it so.

Unfortunately, there's no practical way to assess how you MIGHT score on the GMAT by focusing on how you perform on random questions or quizzes. The only way to truly gain that type of data is to take a FULL-LENGTH CAT/mock under realistic testing conditions. From what you describe, you are early-on in your studies. If you have not already done so, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can take 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) What study materials do you currently have access to?
2) When are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi markchoate81,

I have an important question. Have you had a chance to take an official MBA.com practice exam?
