Prospective B-school Student Events

Question

Clubbers,

Would like to get an idea of what types of notable prospective student events there are at the top B-schools for students looking to apply this upcoming fall. I found a few events for prospective students, such as Darmouth diversity weekend, Georgetown diversity day, and Vanderbilt preview weekend.

Any other notable events that you may have experienced or know that happen on an annual basis?

Most of the top schools host prospective student visit days where you sit in on a class, eat lunch with current students, get a tour of the campus, and meet with admissions folks. These occur throughout the academic year.

Most of the schools are currently concentrating on R3/R4 deadlines along with their incoming classes currently.

Every school offers admission events/propective student events/open houses. I would visit the websites for the schools you are interested in to see when they offer these. Often times, they offer many more of these events in a few months once the incoming class has been totally locked down, and the new application season begins. At that point, schools shift their focus on welcoming prospective students and holding more of these events. So you might be a little bit ahead of the game for the upcoming application season. Schools have multiple touch points for prospective students. You can still do campus tours and class visits at most schools through May. Once school is out for the summer the action shifts to the MBA fair circuit. These usually start in the mid summer and go through the early fall. Starting in late September/early October schools open their doors for campus tours and class visits again. They also have special events (usually two days) for diverse candidates (i.e. URM, women, LGBT, military, etc.). Also many student clubs have conferences that are open to prospective students. You can choose to use as many of these avenues as you choose to get to know a school better. You have to do them all, so don't kill yourself trying to make every tour event, special weekend, and conference.
