I have an interview in New Haven tomorrow. I emailed them to see whether or not it was on - I know Yale's campus is closed yesterday and today so not even sure if I will be able to do it. Let alone the issues of getting there from Manhattan (ugh! more un-needed pressure).

Campus will be open tomorrow. New Haven is pretty much fine, with only some small outages around the city and not in the area of the campus. It'll be getting through Manhattan and then southwestern CT that could be difficult, as those areas have been hit much harder.

I rescheduled a visit to Tuck that was supposed to happen tomorrow. Going via Albany instead of via 95 and then going up 91 might help if you're really worried, although the governor of CT says highways are now fine to travel on. Family in the Albany area have all been at work the last two days and apparently just had some high winds and rain, although not being there myself I can't confirm or deny these reports. You'll want to leave extra time in any case. New England wasn't hit as hard as we were with Irene, but that doesn't mean there aren't still affected areas.

This is stressful. Have you called Tuck, Ward? I'm sure they'd be understanding, but are you driving up through Albany instead of through Connecticut? I'm not on the east coast, so I don't know where Sandy is hitting, but it seems like getting away from the coast might help. They might just suggest you do it over skype during your scheduled time, but it seems like getting to campus is really important, so see if you can do it later!

Thanks. Looks like the Dartmouth Coach service has been cancelled for tomorrow which makes me think the roads are not in good shape. I'll reassess in the morning and call Dartmouth if necessary. But I think I'm going to try anyway. I really want to get this interview out of the way.

Good luck, Ward -- keep in mind though that your safety is more important than the interview. Schools up and down the East Coast are letting people reschedule (or are proactively rescheduling interviews) due to Sandy, so you will not be at fault if you were to "miss" this one.

Thanks everyone. I decided not to drive up. I saw the traffic reports this morning, and my drive would have been almost twice as long and I just couldn't stomach a 6+ hour drive today, especially when I need to work on my essays.

I called Tuck and they're going to allow me to reschedule even after the Nov 7 deadline. They're going to try to get me to interview during the Diversity Weekend, so hopefully I'll be able to interview then.

I think that's a really good choice, Ward, and it's great that Tuck will allow you to reschedule. Hope all goes well with the interview once you have it all set up!

If you have any problems reaching your targeted location due to the storm, call admissions to reschedule. Make sure that you say you are rescheduling due to problems related to the hurricane. They will not question you and will be accommodating. This is one of those situations where no further explanation is needed. They will totally understand.

Best of luck.

Thankfully, Tuck is allowing me to reschedule my interview. Tuck is also extending the deadline for the November round to Nov 19 for those people affected by the Hurricane. For others not affected by the hurricane, the deadline is still Nov 7.
