I applied to top four MBA programs with a GMAT score of 710 48Q 40V during the 2015-2016 application cycle. I got waitlisted at one of the schools.
I intend on reapplying in round one this year and was wondering whether I should attempt to better my GMAT score. I feel like my quant score can be improved. Do you guys think it is worth retaking? I just want to make sure that my GMAT score is high enough to get a tick from adcom.
Just a bit of background on myself: I come from Mauritius, a small island in the Indian Ocean. I currently work as an investment analyst for a Africa fund. Previously, I spent four years working in Australia as an investment analyst for an Asia Pacific fund manager.

No - I don't think you should take the GMAT again.
Your GMAT score is just a formality or a box the Adcom ticks away to evaluate whether you will be able to cope with the course work at school. Secondly, you wouldn't have received an interview from a top 4 school if the school had any doubts about your ability to excel at school. Plus, you're from a very diverse background and have a somewhat unique work experience in Africa, Australia, and Asia that helps distinguish you from the crowd. In my opinion you need to focus more on targeting the right message in your essays and executing it flawlessly rather than taking the GMAT.
How was your interview? Could it be that there was no cohesion between your essays and your interview? One has to really nail almost every aspect of the interview with a top 4 schools.

As far as I could tell the interview went well.
My guess is that adcom may have had doubts about my post MBA plans. I stated in my application and interview that my goal was to return to Mauritius and help in the development of the finance sector on the island. However, at the time I did not have any work experience in Mauritius so it was difficult to articulate a clear plan around that goal. Prior to applying, I had spent four years in Australia working on an Asian fund. Now that I have work experience in Mauritius i should be able to put together a much better pitch.
I just don't want my GMAT score to get in the way. My university grades are good and I am a CFA charterholder (not sure if that counts for much), so hopefully that should be enough to prove I can handle the course material.
