Some brief background:
White Male, came to the US as an immigrant/refugee after the collapse of the Soviet Union
GPA- 3.9+ in Chemical Engineering
GMAT 770/8/5.5
Work Experience: IT Consulting with Deloitte for 2 years. Early promotion and working in Public Sector
EC: Fairly lacking in this department. I did take one my passions (fitness) and start an initiative on my project that was competition for most activity and actually migrated the model to other similar projects within Deloitte for a friendly competition. I also did planning and support for various office activities but nothing too spectacular in my opinion and probably in most admission's opinion.
Target Schools: Harvard, Stanford, Kellogg, MIT
My reason for applying for an MBA is probably the same as most people's in that I want to change my career. Working in public sector (specifically with welfare and Food Stamps) has been rewarding in a way and ties back to how my family was able to succeed because of the initial help from the government to allow us to establish ourselves and have food on our table.
However I am not too keen on working in technology integration any more though I would say I have been fairly successful so far. What I really would like to do turn my personal passion of fitness (and nutrition) and tie it back to public sector and work in a capacity where I can make improvements to how government treats health and work on resolving inefficiencies. I am not really sure if that would be a compelling enough story or how I can really capture my personal passions in a fruitful way. Any suggestions on how I should approach this?
