Hi Guys,
I would really appreciate help to understand if I stand any chance for an MBA in USA at 2 year work ex level or below (targeting top 15-20 schools)
I plan to get into consulting (strategy to be specific)

Profile:

Undergraduation: NIFT, Bachelors in Fashion Technology (GPA- 8.1)
GMAT score: 700 (Q48 V37) (second attempt, first was 610 if at all it matters)
work experience: 1 year full time as an Entrepreneur, started and run a cafe profitably for one year at the age of 19 with a team of 5 people along with college. Currently working on my E-commerce business in Handicraft space. The start up is selected in top 10 budding handicraft start ups in country by Govt of India.

extra curriculars:

1) district level athlete (have over 10 gold medals), founded athletics club in the college.
2) Head of student council at school

Hi PranavChaudhry You’ve got good potential! If I were you I would spend at least a year or two to gain work experience, lead projects and get involved in ECs that I’m passionate about. If you can do that and get your GMAT up by 30+ points, you should have a good shot.

Consider applying to Deferred Enrollment programs, many top schools offer such programs for early career candidates and less experienced candidates. These programs are usually very competitive, as deferred programs have very small classes in terms of who they’re going to admit into their early career program, and successful applicants tend to have exceptional academics, demonstrated leadership and unwavering passion.

Hi PranavChaudhry,

Hope this finds you well.

With our current case, the top 15-20 looks tough. We suggest you look at improving your score as well as adding years of experience in order to have a good chance at making it into these schools.

Good luck!
