28 year old Indian Female, Mumbai University, 3.8 GPA, year of Graduation in Finance 2016 (after that Masters in finance, Corporate Law certifiation and completed LLB by attending morning classes and working fulltime)

GMAT: 605 (preping for GMAT again to elevate my score)

Schools: MIT Sloan, Fuqua, Johnson, Tuck

Work Exp: I work in a World Top 5 Agrichemical Company as an Asst. Manager (one promotion) for last 4 years

1. Flagged more than 50 instances of possible violations leading to multimillion-dollar penalties by discovering weak points in the existing framework that protects the Company against violations under the Prevention of Insider Trading Regulations.

2. Initiated and drove the digitization and penetration of Prevention of Insider Trading policy to reduce violations by 95%

3.Ensured smooth transition and integration of a $30M in revenue/year Indian business of Arysta Lifescience Inc. (a USA headquartered company acquired by UPL Limited) by establishing consensus among finance, legal and HR departments for faster processing of contracts and acquiring licenses.

Questions:
1.what aspects of my profile I need to highlight in order to let the Adcoms know that I’m serious about pursuing a Leadership Role in Agribusiness, considering I work in a 6 member team and don’t have any one reporting to me

2. I haven’t won any awards at work apart from my promotion or any awards outside of work, how to navigate this considering the "Honors & Achievements" section is blank (Should I add my school/college level winings)

3. Will my age and lack of years of experience work against me, considering I spent better part after graduating getting a another degree/certifications

4. How do I navigate the "Degree Collector tag"

5. How to best highlight my interest in Agribusiness considering I do not have a strong hook story.

Hello,
I’m seeking a detailed profile evaluation for MFin/MBA admissions and would really value your insights.

Briefly about my profile: I come from a commerce background with strong academics (91.33% in 10th and 90.80% in 12th). Graduation-8.32 CGPA. I’m currently averaging around 625 in GMAT mocks and am actively working on improving my score.

On the professional side, I’ve completed multiple finance-focused internships, including roles in financial analysis and credit assessment, where I’ve worked on valuation, financial modeling, market research, and portfolio analysis. I also have hands-on exposure to analytics tools such as Excel, Power BI, Python, and SQL, along with experience in building data-driven projects.

I am primarily looking at MFin or Msc Finance programs in Europe and the UK, with schools such as ESADE, emlyon, EDHEC, and ESCP as key targets. I also intend to evaluate my chances at more competitive programs such as London Business School, INSEAD, and HEC Paris as long-shot options, depending on profile positioning and GMAT outcomes.

My short-term goal is to transition into core finance roles post-MBA, with a long-term aspiration to work in high-impact finance domains such as investment banking or strategic finance. I’d like your assessment on my profile strength, realistic school targets, and how I can best position my story and GMAT score for competitive applications.

Looking forward to your guidance.
Thank you.

I am preparing for GMAT. How much score i should target?
Ideally close to 645, but as they are programs that value leadership and experience, there can be leeway with this

Thanks for sharing these details -
1. Any international companies/clients? work outside of Indian finance scheme? - If you do have experience this will help with making your profile stronger as you have a bit of comparison of markets
2. 625 is great for your target schools, any additional financial certs can help with boosting as well.
3. 645-675 is more competitive for LBS, HEC ... INSEAD is less about GMAT, more focus on international experience
4. You’ve mixed programs in your statements - MFin and MBA - advice isn’t too different, but you need to focus a bit more on team work/leadership with MBA applications

Very interesting profile - Lots of great value adds for the MBA profile and what you can share in the classroom with your peers. Agri-bus/tech is more and more common, especially with sustainability as a hallmark of MBA programs.
I would focus on the WHY of your journey so far and WHY MBA to get to what type of impact you want to make in Agri-bus. This will help validate additional education up to this point and correlate with how the
MBA will be the final phase of the plan.

The programs you listed are all very community focused - leverage your connection with current teams/leaders/communities and how you want to have this in your MBA = why this school.

Think about why you are passionate about this sector and it will help you with your hook.
As for GMAT, yes, try to get closer to 645... but some of these schools do have exam waivers and you can apply for them ahead of submitting your application.

Also - statistically MBA programs are ranked on years of work ex, not years post-grad - so if you were in school, then they can count the 4 years of work ex, not 10

Hi Jennifer!

I’m Tanisha from India (female, 25)

I’ve gotten interview invites from IE and ESADE, submitted my Nanyang application.

My NUS and HEC applications are ready, but I’m just unsure if my gre score is enough to apply. I don’t have time to redo the test, because then I’ll only know from them by April and my Spain colleges will give time until march latest.

Also not sure if I should apply to HEC Jan intake instead?

Here’s more about me:

5years at a global pr agency Burson, two years of exp as manager, 3 promotions in 5 years. Worked with global clients like Uber, Amazon, Logitech, and Indian startups. Client servicing for retail and tech clients.

Also has part-time experience helping with digital upgradation for my 40+ year old family business.

Accredited in Indian public relations and have won awards internally for campaigns.

Looking to work in marketing post MBA, aiming for French, Spanish / Singaporean colleges for full time course.

BA in Media and Communications from Manipal Institute of Communication (2018-21)

Lots of extra curricular activities, tedx, debate club, leadership for local communities

My gre score is 316 (v157 q159 AWA 4.0) quant is 47th percentile

I’ve got interviews to IE and ESADE using their tests. Want to understand if this score is ok for HEC / essec / nanyang / NUS

Have thorough, extremely positive recommendations from my boss (business head of south India office) and ex manager

Outside of work, I’m passionate about food and community building. I’ve also cofounded a run community with over 300 members. Many other extra curricular activities during college as well.

Just confused about the gre score / HEC application
