Don't read into anything. I've heard of people getting a similar email from Notre Dame and then later getting rejected. If anything, take it for what it is, just a marketing tool

Yeah I was thinking that too. What about NYU not contacting me after I chose them to send my GMAT score? Bad sign?

I wouldn't read into that either unless you know for a fact that NYU contacts people after receiving GMAT and NYU does not reject those same people.

i wouldn't read too much into that either. my experience with NYU is that they are a low-spam school. i've signed up on their lists many times, attended events, sent them my scores, and still get a very low volume of correspondence from them, they know that people interested in them know how to use the internet and gather the information they want. it's many of the 15-25 schools that seem to spam my inbox and send me unsolicited viewbooks and letters.

Thanks. I figured that top 10 schools don't have a need to spam.

Don't read into it. It's a marketing tool, not a recruiting tool. NYU (as well as the other top tier schools) doesn't need to market itself like that since they already have pretty good brand awareness among potential applicants.

Don't read into it. I still get invitations today from schools. Occasionally I entertain myself by replying with ludicrous questions.

Anyway, mass email system is basically like a database query statement

Select all from table where score>7xx.

Just so we will pony up $200 bucks and they can brag how "selective" their program is. Sorry I have pessimistic view.

Many of those emails contain application fee reductions or waivers, but the acceptance rate theory sounds plausible.
