Hi Bhavik,
I had the opportunity to speak with you earlier on a free consultation call and I really did appreciate your insights at the time! As you can see, I've not had too much success this application season, but the silver lining is that I've been waitlisted at Anderson.
I knew early on that applying with only 2 years of work experience at matriculation was a gamble, but I decided to do it anyway since I felt like I was ready. I believe this is one of the reasons why I've been put on the waitlist. I wanted to ask if you had any suggestions as to how I could address this in my waitlist updates. Three things that have come to my mind:
1. I've been looking at a job shift in the same industry (tech) but to a different function (engineering to product management) in anticipation of the fact that I may have to reapply next year. The new role would be a step up since I would now be in a management role (actually managing people) and it would also be a significant promotion in terms of salary and title. I was hoping that mentioning this in the waitlist letter would show that I'm ready to take on an MBA and that despite the lack of work experience, I am going to be leading product development. I'm just a little concerned that a job change at this point would be a red flag of sorts. Would be great to hear your thoughts.
2. I plan to speak to current students who had 2 years of work experience pre-MBA to show that I've done my research and that I'm aware of any difficulties they've had to face either in terms of recruiting or speaking out in class. With this I hope to show that I'm coming in fully prepared.
3. An additional letter of recommendation from an organization I volunteer at that highlights my leadership skills.
These are things that I thought of right off the bat, but I'd love to hear what you think. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
