Mr.Pandey,
I concur with every one else here . Your son should gain 3-4 years of professional experience before he gets ready to apply for MBA program. He is an IIT graduate and already has a good GMAT score. All he needs to do is work for 2-3 years and get some leadership experience.
Good luck,

Hi,

There are a couple of schools that like younger students, and they happen to be Harvard and Stanford. I would be curious to know what your son is doing at the Data Analytics company ....is he in a technical role or a business development role etc.? Also I would be curious to know what company he works at....is it an internationally recognized company or more locally recognized one? Those factors will play into his chances.

If he is in a technical role, at a locally but not internationally recognized company with a 710 GMAT .... he has very little changes of attending a top 10 MBA (I use US News as the best ranking of MBA programs in the US). If he is doing something more business orientated at an international company and brings his GMAT to 730+ he would have a better chance. But I do agree with all the other experts in that he should have at least 3 years of experience under his belt when and if he does apply. Depending on his career goals a Masters degree might be more appropriate and less costly. There is an infinitesimally small chance that he will receive any scholarship from the business schools themselves. Perhaps your local counsel or government might be able to provide some sort of assistance. Cost of a two-year MBA program in the US is about $150k

My Son, Harshvardhan has scored 710 in GMAT. He is an IIT graduate in Chemical Engineering and is presently working in the Data Analytics firm for nearly 10 months now. He has been active in various students' clubs in the campus and has an internship experience of nearly 4 months. His average CGPA is 8.4/10. He wishes to apply to top MBA programs starting from Fall 2016 preferably with a financial aid. Considering that he would be having less than 3 years work experience, does he stand a chance to get admissions in an MBA program and if so which ones? Any advice / consultation will be helpful.

Hi,

I agree with the above comments here. Your son has a decent profile, IIT with 710 GMAT Score is definitely good. But, if he is targeting top 10 B-Schools then here are few things he need to work on:

1) He needs to build up his profile by gaining some more work experience - at least a year or two and gain some leadership and managerial experience
2) Retake his GMAT and target 730+ GMAT Score
3) Extracurricular

You may also gauge your chances of getting admission to top business school by trying this amazing tool https://bit.ly/1C9o2Md

You can also get your free profile evaluation done by the top Ivy league B-School grads during the webinar conducted by General Education on 3rd May 2015. For registration and more details visit our website https://www.genedmba.com/webinars-seminars/

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
