Sajjad1994, GMATNinja I am not able to see where "achieve it's purpose" is discussed or implied. Rather my understanding is that it might look unstructured (madness) but it is actually structured and has its own logic. No option says this but I don't see why B is the answer.



The phrase means the comic spirit appears chaotic but has its own logic. While (B) isn't exactly what we seek, it aligns closest because it implies unstructured appearances ("madness") still achieve an intended result ("laughter"). Other options either misinterpret "madness" or ignore the underlying logic.
