As I said, politics is plural when we discuss the politics of individuals as in the text ; When we broadly talk about overall politics, it is singular IMO

The correct form is: Politics is out of scope. Politics, like mathematics, linguistics, economics, and other domains ending in -ics, is syntactically singular. Can we not say that this question is not GMAT like?

My 2 cents:

X's who supported black nationalism resulted in government persecution.

--- Possessive. Quality or feature of X and not X himself. Secondly, the latter part is awkward.

B,C and D compare politics with the individual.

My explanations are not usually credible. So some of the V experts can throw light on this.

E is wrong because of the difference between WHO SUPPORT & WHOSE SUPPOSE OF BLACK NATIONALISM.

WHO SUPPORTED MEANS HE WAS SUPPORTING SOMETHING

WHOSE SUPPORT OF : SOMEONE SUPPORTED HIM.

Hope i make some sense and helped you
