in the second part of the comparision, "while alumni from smaller liberal arts colleges frequently show their allegiance by donating money", their is plural therefore A is out as it uses its.
Similarly D is out as it uses singular who.
in E there is a mismatch between whos and are.
between B and C it boils down to maters' and maters, the use if latter is wrong.
