After being examined by a group of economists, the data conclude that a larger proportion of African-Americans consider life insurance to be more important today than in the past.

A) After being examined by a group of economists, the data conclude that a larger proportion of African-Americans consider

B) After a group of economists carefully examined it, the data concludes a larger proportion of African-American as considering

C) After a group of economists carefully examined the data, they concluded that a larger proportion of African-Americans consider

D) A group of economists, who has carefully examined the data, concluding that a larger proportion of African-American consider

E) After being carefully examined by a group of economists, the data concludes a larger proportion of African-Americans as considering

The MAIN point is "what" concludes, it can't be data- data can point towards something. so the group of people should be concluding something
Only C is clear in its meaning..

other flaws

A) After being examined by a group of economists, the data conclude that a larger proportion of African-Americans consider
BEING should be avoided unless very necessary. its the group that concludes

B) After a group of economists carefully examined it, the data concludes a larger proportion of African-American as considering
WHAT concludes??

C) After a group of economists carefully examined the data, they concluded that a larger proportion of African-Americans consider
by using THEY it clears the ambiguity.. correct

D) A group of economists, who has carefully examined the data, concluding that a larger proportion of African-American consider
VERB is missing

E) After being carefully examined by a group of economists, the data concludes a larger proportion of African-Americans as considering
BEING should be avoided unless very necessary. its the group that concludes

C

Hi,
My doubt is little inconsistent with this question.

While in C, the S-V is in agreement by stating " larger proportion of African-Americans consider", is that in option D - "larger proportion of African-American consider"- in agreement ?
Does "larger proportion of African-American" (and not AmericanS) make sense logically? If yes, is the singular term African-American referring to the community?

Thank you

Hi..

correct term is African-Americans : it means Americans who have their roots in Africa
same as indo-Americans means.

African -American is putting EQUAL emphasis on both terms African and american, so does not really clarify anything.

A,B and E are wrong because "data" can't conclude anything; Instead, the economists should conclude.

"They" is correctly referring to economists which is the nearest antecedent. I would recommend you to watch GMATNinja videos on youtube to clarify your doubts - link: https://youtu.be/IhN_KU1bSKU
