Phrases that begin with "due to" can only modify nouns, not verbs. Also "lead" is present tense "led" suits better

"this" doesn't have a clear referent. Only logical referent would be victories, but "victories" is plural

 Correct

"and" connects same type of phrases. Here we have a DC and IC connected by "and". Also we have double subject "Robert the Bruce... and he"

My answer is  (C) . It took me 01:52.

I initially eliminate (C) because 
(1) There should be a comma after "King of Scotland in the early 14th century"
(2) The comma before "because" is superfluous.

(A) "Due to" cannot be used adverbially.

(B) "this" does not have a clear antecedent. This cannot refer to "victories" as the latter is plural.
Also, There should be a comma after "King of Scotland in the early 14th century"

(C) Other than the slapdash use of commas, option (C) prevail over other choices.

(D) Not a complete sentence. It seems to be a coordinating sentence "IC1 + Comma + FANBOYS + IC2". But IC1 (Independent Clause) does not contain a verb. 
Also, there should be a comma before "King of Scotland in the early 14th century"

(E) This version does use the comma around "Robert the Bruce" appropriately.
But who would add a comma after "with the results that" and then repeat "with the results that"?

'this ' cannot refer back to 'victories' in addition victories is plural therefore the reference cannot be correct therefore out

C. Robert the Bruce, King of Scotland in the early 14th century is remembered as a national hero in Scotland, because his victory resulted in the independence of Scotland from England. 
Better than the remaining bunch therefore our answer

D. Robert the Bruce king of Scotland in the early 14th century, winning victories that resulted in the independence from England, and he is remembered as a national hero in Scotland.
independent clause doesn't contain main verb therefore out

I understand option C has the least errorrs among the 5, but isn't option C incorrect ideally? The option changes victories to victory and thus changes the meaning completely
