The stem drills down to B & C.
C specifies that organisms will grow organs to adapt. The premise talks about organisms living in a particular topology having similar organs. This has been clearly highlighted in B.

Hello guys!
Since its been a while since the question is posted, and its stone cold, let's spice it up a bit!
The passage expects us to adhere to the last line "After all, whatever the difference of heritage and habitat, as organisms animals have fundamentally similar needs and so __"
before the passage ends. The passage is supposed to be concluded on a note that inspite of the differences in the habitat and heritage, the needs are similar which is important. So, we need to find an answer choice which registers this fact.
Let's chalk out options to get our match!
Eliminate Option A, it is irrelevant and out of context.
Option B seems fine as of now, so lets keep it.
Option C doesn't sound that bad, so we can come back here later.
Eliminate Option D, the passage does not talk anything about having different biological needs or something close to it. So drop this as well.
Eliminate Option E, it is definitely out of context and doesn't make any sense at all.
In Option B and C,
Option C is not apt with our match, it says that developing adaptations will allow them to satisfy the needs. It is not on point. So, drop this as well.
Option B seems fine to me, and expresses the right meaning here by evolving similar adaptations which will enable them to satisfy their needs.
