I can see that people from countries where cricket is not a mainstream sport are struggling.

Indians also struggle with events/sports in which they aren't familiar.

I Hope that these type of questions (which involve regional bias) do not come in the main exam

Honestly, this is not very well drafted question- I am pretty sure that this will not appear in any exam.

Kohli in the last test test match with England brought an off break spinner Hanuma VIhari, an allrounder capable of scoring good runs. Recently India has been criticised for the poor selection of test players. Ashwin has been replaced with Vihari. Test conditions in England are unpredictable but the change will not cost India this match.

Which of the following strengthens the argument?

A) Hanuma Vihari has taken 10 runs and 3 wickets and is capable of changing Kohli’s cricketing mind
B) A change in test pitch that could effect the conditions suitable for a good match is required
C) A debutant player in England has helped the team win the match several years ago
D) The pitch does have rough pockets
E) The search of a comprehensive player ignites confidence in the team

I struggled with this question quite a bit, especially the array of details and cricket terms made it very tricky.

In the end I tried to boil it down to "A new player won´t hurt the team". After having this respective statement identified as the main argument, I felt like clear choice in terms of strenghtening was E.
Could you please help me out in why option D was eliminated ?

This is poorly drafted question. I could answer it correctly only because I am a citizen of cricket playing nation and had prior knowledge. But u are not supposed to use prior knowledge on GMAT.

Who brought Hanuma Vihari? Was it Kohli or was it India? Is kohli and India same?
Also, how do we know Ashwin was not a well rounded player (as option E is correct)
