The newly elected prime minister of Cyberia, Mr O, prefers using vehicles made by the domestic firm MAHA-Indra. The most important criterion in Cyberia for selecting a vehicle for people holding top constitutional posts is the security cover provided by that vehicle. The current fleet for the prime minister consists of cars made by BMUU, all of which employ the UltraS security technology. Therefore, it’s unlikely that the new prime minister will continue to use cars made by MAHA-Indra.

Which of the following statements, if true, weakens the author’s conclusion?

A. In laboratory tests conducted by the Max institute to measure fuel economy, BMUU lagged behind MAHA-Indra. Incorrect

fuel economy is irrelevant

B. Three previous prime ministers have relied on MAHA-Indra SUV as their vehicle of choice. Incorrect

that doesnt a fact in argument

C. Most heads of state have switched to cheaper cars, choosing austerity over security, since the recession in 2008. Incorrect

security is the prime factor, this focus on less important factor

D. A new technology, MagniShield, developed by MAHA-Indra is very effective at preventing attacks launched from land, sea or air. Correct

so new prime minister will use MAHA-Indra

E. Early in his political career, Mr O had taken a vow of not using foreign vehicles for official purposes. Incorrect

irrelevant
