I have doubts to practice such questions simply because it is not a question.

It is simply the article's introduction located here https://www.scientificamerican.com/arti ... ncover-ev/ to which were attached 5 answer choices.

In the end, it tests specifically almost nothing. Moreover, grammatically is even worse the sentence, modified on purpose.

The original introduction is not written that way

I could be wrong but they are just my two cents

Regards

PS: the stem says "undermine" but the tag is "assumption". I edited accordingly, the question should be a weaken question.

Why C? Why cant I argue that "Beer like beverage" is not "Liquor" .

And why not B? It clearly casts a shadow of doubt on the presence of artifacts in that place.

On the surface, D looks very strong, because it seems to undermine the possibility of Chicha being brewed at all.
But there are some issues:

The premise of the passage clearly says that Chicha was made and consumed by the Wan people. If D were completely true, it would suggest a factual error in the passage itself, not just a flaw in reasoning.

In GMAT Critical Reasoning, the best weakeners typically challenge the logic of the conclusion, not the factual basis of the passage.
