I see why A can logically fit the bill here, but here is my reasoning for D:
If there is no need to create plastic coins, the problem will not exist, and hence Yacob's argument is weakened/argument no longer stands. Why does it matter that the problem of plastic coins exists? Does one have to read into the tense of the argument and answer in this case? I see a gap between the plastic coin problem existing until the price drops, but it does mention the price will drop soon.

Can someone help how do I reframe my logic for D to be wrong?

Hi,

A couple of points to highlight here:
i) As MartyMurray emphasized above, just because the problem related to metal coins will cease to exist does not mean that the counterfeiting-related problem with plastic coins doesn't exist.
ii) Focus on the question stem: we need an option that counter's Yacob's objection and supports the plan meaning something that supports that the plan to use plastic coins will work. In the case of D), it eliminates the need for the plan instead of supporting the plan. A) on the other hand directly addresses his objection and says since counterfeiting will be expensive => not profitable, plan should still work.

Hope this helps!
