Could someone please elaborate on this statement:
Quote:
It’s worth mentioning that the GMAT characteristic of always having the answer choices in order will be maintained here, even if the order isn’t obvious due to different denominators.
Does it suggest that the answers will always be in descending or ascending order?

Hi, insomnia although it is true that mostly GMAC provides options in ascending or descending order only, I'd not go and outright assume this when solving fractions.
In my time of practice, I remember I faced a question in which I eventually had to find the biggest fraction in the choices to get to the correct answer. I assumed that the fractions are in increasing pattern and skipped solving option D's fraction and chose E straight away. But, they played me upon this exactly. The numbers were kept in a manner that a person will mostly assume that the choices are increasing, and then they sneaked in the greatest fraction in choice D.
So, yes, even though most of the times choices will be in increasing or decreasing order, do read each and every choice carefully and don't skip.

Thank you for sharing. If you recall, was this one of the official, and not community / test prep agency created questions?

Unfortunately, I’m not very sure of this, sorry. 😅
Only thing I can say with surety is that this was not an OG question. I can’t recall further. But, it was a good GMAT level question only. Not way too weird to say that it can’t be on the GMAT.
