The cylindrical tank shown above has a volume of 36π cubic meters. It has a radius of 3 meters and is filled with water to its capacity. If a plug is removed at its base, which releases water from the tank at a rate of π cubic meters/min, how much water is left in the tank after 9 minutes?

A. 27π meters³
B. 32π meters³
C. 33π meters³
D. 36π meters³
E. 42π meters³

Kudos for a correct solution.

Volume of the cylinder 36π cubic meters
Water released at the rate of π cubic meters / min
Total water released after 9 minutes = 9π
remaining water = 27 π

Ans A

Total Volume =36 pie cubic units

Water reduced= pie cubic units/min
Total water reduced in 9 minutes =9*pie cubic units

Total volume= 36-27=9 cubic units THus answer is A.

Kudos for a correct solution.

Total water volume = 36π cubic meters

Water released for 9 minutes = π * 9 = 9π cubic meters

Balance water = 36π - 9π = 27π cubic meters

Seems to be typo...

36π - 9π = 27π

OFFICIAL SOLUTION:

(A) If the tank is losing water at a rate of π cubic meters per minute for 9 minutes, then the tank has lost 9π cubic meters of water. If it is filled to capacity and the tank has a volume of 36π cubic meters, then after 9 minutes there are (36 – 9)π = 27π cubic meters of water remaining.
