Hi sara86,

What is the exact source of this question? I ask because something is clearly missing from this prompt. As chetan2u pointed out, we can't figure out the area of the parallelogram without knowing the length of the BASE. We either need a value or we need to 'relate' that base to one of the other measurements in the shape. The GMAT would NOT expect you to estimate the answer based on the scale of the drawing.

EDIT: Now that the missing information has been included (the "8" wasn't in the original prompt), the question can be properly answered.

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

"GMAT CAT Practice Test" is not a source. Sources are Manhattan Prep, Empowergmat, Veritas Prep, Magoosh, Princeton , Official Guide, GMATPrep etc . What exactly is the source of this question?
