object travels 5 feet in 1 seconds
so speed = 5 ft/second
there are 60 * 60 = 3600 seconds in a hour
so time = 3600 seconds
according to formula distance = speed * time
so object will travel 5 * 3600 = 18000 feet in a hour
so distance = 18000 feet
correct answer - E

5ft per second
per min = 5*60 = 300ft
per hour = 5*60*60 = 18000ft
per day = 5*60*60*24

Asked: If an object travels at five feet per second, how many feet does it travel in one hour?

Speed = 5 f/s
Distance = Speed * time = 5 * 60*60 = 18000 feet

1 sec -> 5 feet ;

1 hour = 3600 sec -> 5*3600 feet = 18000 feet

If an object travels at five feet per second, how many feet does it travel in one hour?

A. 30
B. 300
C. 720
D. 1800
E. 18000

We can solve this question using equivalent ratios.

The question tells us that for every 1 second, the object travels 5 feet
1 hour = 3600 seconds
Let x = the distance travelled in one hour (aka 3600 seconds)

We can write: 1/5 = 3600/x

Cross multiply: x = 18,000

Answer: E
