5x+15y=850 --1
x+y=60 ---2
multiply eq 2 with 5 and subtract from eq 1
5x+15y=850
5x+5y=300
10y= 550
y=55 and x = 5
therefore $15 bills = 15
x+y=60 ---2

I solved with multiplying from answers.
Started with option C. $15 x 50 bills = $750 (100 remaining) ($5 x 20 not possible because total bills used are 60, so we can say $15 bills must be greater and then we can count with option D)
$15 x 55 bills = $825 (25 remaining) ($5 x 5 bills = $25) So total $850.
So clearly answer is D.
