Though the figure is not drawn to scale but it looks like x is negative and y is positive. We don't know anything about the spacing of these points and their distance from zero.

So x*y<0 and x-y<0

Let's plug in numbers
x =-1 & y=1 (but we need to consider other numbers if needed)

I) xy = -1 * 1 = -1......( Any +ve number * Any -ve number = -ve number)

II) x + y = -1 + 1 = 0..Eliminate II

III) x – y = -1 -1 =-2 <0.......( Any -ve number - Any +ve number = -ve number)

Answer: D

Take numbers x=-1,y=2
Case:1
xy<0
-1*2=-2 satisfies
Case:2
x+y<0
-1+2=1 doesnot satisfies
Case:3
x-y<0
-1-2=-3 satisfies
You can take anyother number as well

We see that x is negative and y is positive. Let’s analyze each Roman numeral.

I. xy < 0

Since x is negative and y is positive, xy < 0. Roman numeral I is true.

II. x + y < 0

Because the figure is not drawn to scale, we cannot tell if the sum x + y will be negative, positive, or zero. Roman numeral II is not necessarily true.

III. x – y < 0

Since x is negative and y is positive, x - y will always be less than zero. Roman numeral III is true.
