The ratio of the length of a rectangular floor to its width is 3 : 2. If the length of the floor is 12 meters, what is the perimeter of the floor, in meters?

(A) 20
(B) 40
(C) 60
(D) 96 g
(E) 120
\(\frac{3L}{2W}\) = \(\frac{12L}{8W}\)

The numerator 3, multiplied by 4 = 12. So (2 * 4) = 8. Or cross multiply.

L = 12, W = 8
Perimeter = 12 + 12 + 8 + 8 = 40

(A) 20
(B) 40
(C) 60
(D) 96
(E) 120

Simply use multiplier concept:

Length : Width = 3:2

If length = 12, the multiplier is 4. So width is 2*4 = 8

Perimeter = 2*(L + B) = 2*(12 + 8) = 40

Answer (B)

(A) 20
(B) 40
(C) 60

(E) 120

We are given that the ratio of length : width = 3x : 2x.

Since the length of the floor is 12:

3x = 12

x = 4

So, the length is 3x = (3)(4) = 12 and the width is 2x = (2)(4) = 8. Thus, the perimeter is 2 x 12 + 2 x 8 = 24 + 16 = 40.
