I knew the concept and was also able to solve this - from drawing the figure in my textbook to marking the info from question to the drawn figure and then figuring out the required info. This whole exercise took about 4mins to get to the answer.

I am not sure, what would be an efficient way of solving these kinds of questions, other than connecting the information and getting the result. Please suggest, if I am missing something here. And what should my strategy be during GMAT if I encounter a question like this.

Agreed entirely - I was in the same boat, took about 5mins to get to the right answer. I also redrew the diagram which I know took some time so that might be an area we could cut down on time.
