75% of the fruit trees in an orchard are apple trees, and 20% of those trees produce yellow apple. If one tree is to be selected at random, what is the probability that the tree selected produces yellow apple?

(a) 0.15
(b) 0.20
(c) 0.25
(d) 0.50
(e) 0.55

If we let the total number of trees = n, then 3/4 x 1/5 x n = 3n/20 produce yellow apples. Thus, the probability that the tree selected produces yellow apples is (3n/20)/n = 3/20 = 0.15.

Answer: A
