Let us assume the total number employees in the company is 100

ME = 60
FE = 40

In the union election, 40% ME voted and 60% of the FE voted.
=>ME = 40/100 x 60 = 24
=>FE = 60/100 X 40 = 24

A total of 48 out of 100 employees voted for candidate P. Hence it's 48%.

In a textile company, 60 percent employees are male and the rest are females. In a union election, 40 percent of male and 60 percent of female employees voted for a Candidate P. What percent of the total employees voted for Candidate P?

(A) 40%
(B) 48%
(C) 50%
(D) 60%
(E) 64%

Let’s assume that the total number of employees is 100, so there are 60 males and 40 females.

We know that 40 percent of the 60 males voted for Candidate P, which is 0.40 x 60 = 24. We know that 60 percent of the 40 females voted for Candidate P, which is 0.60 x 40 = 24. Thus, 24 males and 24 females voted for Candidate P, so 48/100 = 48% voted for Candidate P.

Answer: B
