In a certain mixture consisting of sugar and cinnamon, the ratio of the number of ounces of sugar to the number of ounces of cinnamon is 15 to 1. How many ounces of sugar are in 24 ounces of the mixture?

A) 11.25
B) 12
C) 22.5
D) 23
E) 24

Solution:-

the ratio of the number of ounces of sugar to the number of ounces of the total is 15:16 or (after multiplying numerator and denominator by 1.5) is 22.5:24

Hence option C is the correct answer.

15:1 = 15/6 :1/16

1/16*24 = ¼*6= 1,5

24-1,5 =22,5

So we are looking for ounces of sugar in 24 ounces of mixture.
We know there are 15 ounces of sugar in a 16 ounces mixture, thus:

15 / 16 = X / 24

X = 22.5

You can calculate the proportion of sugar to the total amount by adding 15 and 1 (16) to create the total amount. Since you have 15s, 15/16 is the proportion of sugar to the total amount of sugar and cinnamon. I hope this helps

A) 11.25
B) 12
C) 22.5
D) 23
E) 24

Given: The ratio of the number of ounces of sugar to the number of ounces of cinnamon is 15 to 1
(15 ounces of sugar) + (1 ounce of cinnamon) = 16 ounces of mixture
So, for every 16 ounces of mixture, we have 15 ounces of sugar and 1 ounce of cinnamon.
So, we can see that 15/16 of the mixture is sugar.

Question: How many ounces of sugar are in 24 ounces of the mixture?
Volume of sugar in the mixture = 15/16 of 24
= (15/16)(24)
= 22.5

A) 11.25

D) 23

= 22.5

Answer: C

sugar : cinnamon = 15 : 1

Since the mixture has no other components, the fraction of the mixture that is sugar:

15/(15 + 1) = 15/16

Therefore, the amount of sugar in the mixture is:

sugar = (15/16) × 24 = (15/2) × 3 = 22.5 ounces

In a certain mixture consisting of sugar and cinnamon, the ratio of the number of ounces of sugar to the number of ounces of cinnamon is 15 to 1. How many ounces of sugar are in 24 ounces of the mixture?
\(S:C:M=15:1:16\)

Now we need to make M 24, so divide the equation by 16 (so M becomes 1) and multiply by 24.
\(S:C:M=\frac{15}{16}*24:\frac{1}{16}*24:\frac{16}{16}*24\\
S:C:M=22.5:1.5:24\)

Hence Option (C)
