The machine completes 1/3 of the work in (11:10 A.M - 8:30 AM) 2 hr 40 min = 8/3 hrs.

So the machine will complete the total work in = \((8/3)/(1/3)\) = 8 hrs

The machine started at 8:30 a.m and will complete the work in 8 hrs

So the job will be completed on 4:30 P.M . Answer (D)

total time 8:30 to 11:10 am ; 160 mins
so rate per hr to complete 1/3 work
1/3 = 160/60 * rate
rate = 60/160*3 ; 1/8 hrs
so to complete 1 complete work it takes 8 hrs
starting at 8:30 am ends at 4:30 pm

Starting at 8:30, completing 1/3rd of the day task by 11:30 means. It took 2hrs 40min to complete this portion.

Total time of cometion would be:
2hrs 40 min + 2hrs 40 min + 2hrs 40 min= 8 hrs

To get final time:
Add 8hrs to 8:30 AM and see the time, which comes as 4:30 PM

The number of hours from 8:30 am to 11:10 am is 2 hours 40 minutes = 2 2/3 hours = 8/3 hours. Creating a proportion, we have:

(8/3)/(1/3) = n/1

24/3 = n

8 = n

So the job is completed at 8:30 am + 8 hours = 4:30 pm.
