Explanation:

s=3t ; t=p/2
r=6s =18t = 18xp/2 = 9p
p/r=p/9p
= 1/9

\(r=6s\) and \(s=3t\) and \(2t=p\)

If \(p \neq 0\), what is the value of \(\frac{p}{r}\) for the system of equations above ?

(A) 1/9
(B) 1/3
(C) 1
(D) 3
(E) 9

Find some values that satisfy the given equations.

Start with \(s=3t\) and \(2t=p\)
If \(t=1\), then \(s=3\) and \(p=2\)

Now we can deal with \(r=6s\)
Since \(s=3\), we know that \(r=18\)

Since the values \(t=1\), \(s=3\), \(p=2\) and \(r=18\) satisfy all of the given equations, we can now answer the question...

\(\frac{p}{r}=\frac{2}{18}=\frac{1}{9}\)

Answer: A

(A) 1/9 --> correct: r=6s = 6*3t, because s=3t, => r=6s = 6*3t = 6*3*(p/2) because 2t=p i.e. t =p/2, so => r=6s = 6*3t = 6*3*(p/2)=3*3p=9p => p/r=1/9
(B) 1/3
(C) 1
(D) 3
(E) 9

P/R=?

R=6S
R/6=S

S=3T
(We will use S=R/6 in the above equation)
R/6=3T
R/18=T

2T=P
(We will use T=R/18 in the above equation)
2*R/18=P
R/9=P
P/R=1/9

Therefore answer is A 1/9
