IMO D

5x+40 and 2x are corresponding angles and the sum of corresponding angles equal 180.

7x+40 = 180, therefore x =20

Posted from my mobile device

Hi Harsh 9676. Actually corresponding angles are equal and their sum is not 180. (Please refer to the highlighted statement)

The supplementary of 2x i.e 180 - 2x is corresponding to 5x + 40 and these 2 angles are equal.

Therefore 180 - 2x = 5x + 40 and hence x = 20.

Arun Kumar

Thanks CrackVerbalGMAT and Arun for correcting me.

Thought the same but didn't put it properly.

Or, \(x = 20\), Answer will be (D)
