Shayna rolls a six-sided die twice. What is the probability that she rolls the same number both times?

For getting one number in die = 1/6 and for 2 numbers = 1/6* 1/6

Now, numbers are same in 2 rolls = 2C2 (selecting 2 same numbers come up out of Total 2 rolls) * 6 (we can have 1 or 2 or 3 or 5 or 6) = 6

So, P(E)= 1/36 *6 = 1/6.

So, I think E. :)

Given that Shayna rolls a six-sided die twice and We need to find What is the probability that she rolls the same number both times?

As we are rolling two dice => Number of cases = \(6^2\) = 36

Getting the same number both times can happen in 6 ways
(1,1), (2,2) , (3,3), (4,4), (5,5), (6,6)

=> Probability that she rolls the same number both times = \(\frac{6}{36}\) = \(\frac{1}{6}\)

So, Answer will be E

Total possible outcomes are 6*6=36

Total desired outcomes = (1,1), (2,2), (3,3),(4,4),(5,4),(6,6) = 6

Probability= 6/36 = 1/6
