Nine person went to a hotel to take their meals. Eight of them spent 12 each on their meals and the ninth spent 8 more than the average expenditure of all the nine. What was the total money spent by them ?

Average amount paid by each person = t / 9

Amount paid by the 9th person = t - (12*8)

Amount paid by the 9th person = t - 96

Its given that -

t - 96 = t/9 + 8

9t - (96 * 9) = t + 72

8t = (96 * 9) + (8 * 9)

8t = 9(104)

t = 117
