After getting a 20 percent discount, Jerry paid $100 for a bicycle. How much did the bicycle originally cost?

A. 80$
B. 82$
C. 116$
D. 120$
E. 125$

So \(.80\) of some amt. \(= 100\)

Amt\( = \frac{100}{.80} = \frac{10000}{80}= 125\)

Ans E

Hope it's clear.

If the discount is 20 per cent, we can say that the remaining 80 per cent = $100

ie, X * \(\frac{80}{100}\) = 100

80X = 10000
X = \(\frac{10000}{80}\)

X = 125
