If 16% of 40% of a number is 8, the number is:

(A) 125
(B) 200
(C) 225
(D) 275
(E) 320
\(\frac{16}{100}*\frac{40}{100}*x = 8\)

Or, \(\frac{1}{25}*\frac{1}{5}*x = 1\)

So, \(x = 125\), Answer must be (A)

Please stop doing Algebra, and just have some PITA (Plug In The Answers)!! 11% of the PS questions in the 2022 OG Quant book can be solved using PITA, making it the second-most useful test-taking technique.

Okay, out of answer choices B, C, and D, which looks easiest to work with (with rare exception, start with B, C, or D since they typically give more information than A and E)?

I'll go with B.
What's 40% of 200? 80.
What's 16% of 80? 8+4.8, so 12.8.
Is that 8? No, so answer choice B is wrong.
Do we need something larger or smaller? Smaller. Answer choices C, D, and E are wrong.
And we are left with answer choice A.
LOL @ Algebra. Thanks, PITA, you're the best!
